    Royal Guards Trooper helmet

Hi guys. I hope you can help me with this guards helmet. Absolutely not my area. Is it a good one? I only have this photo available at the moment.

    Thanks

I agree that it is probably a theatrical or 'pageant' piece. The plume is very crude and I don't believe the 'plate' on the front matches that of any British regiment of horse. The 6th Dragoon Guards [The Carbiniers] wore a very different badge, their helmets were brass or gold coloured and their plume was white. The chin strap looks odd too but the biggest give-away is the way the plume is attached to the helmet. Real examples have a very different 'post' In fact, if you go here, you can see an example of a reproduction 6th Carbinbiers helmet: http://www.militaryheritage.com/helmet3.htm

Intersting find, though. Clearly someone went to a fair bit of trouble to create it and it would be fascinating to know why.

            It's laughably bad.

Here is mine, for the Life Guards. If someone could turn the photo right side up, I would appreciate it.

Thanks much; I cannot seem to figure out how to do that.
