    Airborne Smock

I have been given this smock to do some research on. I got it from a Northern Ireland and Gulf War Vet, he was given it in the early 1980's while still a kid.

He subsequently wore it extensively on exercises in the UK and damaged it a fair bit!
The label is very faded, but he said it was dated either 1942 or 1944. The old guy he got it from said it was used at Arnhem.................

Value wise its pretty much a relic, but I would just like to know if it is WW2 period?

    Thanks

I think this is the 1958 pattern smock, most definately not from WW2.

Final stage of Denison production smock (late 1960s/1970s). You can see parts of the label that should read:

'Smock Camouflage 8405-99-973-5161 Size No 1 James Smith & Co Derby A/78/Clo/32124/DC69(2)'.

These are becoming more and more collectible in their own right. Personally, I love the colours. Though the one pictured, as mentioned, has had a hard paper round!

Here's jacket being worn during make new friends time in Derry.
The 58 looked like yours but the 66 print was a bit different and I think there was a final 72 print.

I had a WW2 Denison given to me by a Westland Lysander pilot as a kid and wore it in Belfast....
I was constantly stoped by by Paras who loved it and wanted to know why I was wearing it !!!!
                          Fun times
