German sun helmet with Brit unit markings

I got this years ago and just ran across it today. C an anyone tell me what unit is indicated by the shields? any guess on value?

Interesting. Perhaps it could be Italian. Can imagine why someone would ruin a perfectly good helmet to put a bogus marking on but anything can happen. Could have been kids done for to play with.
