      Hi.
These were found in a barn in Estonia.
Have not seen this type before and did not found anything in the internet.
Were marching boots common in British Army? Parade or cavalry use perhaps?

      Regards
      K.

These appear to be British naval pattern boots, usually issued to sailors on board ships. This is why they have no hobnails on the soles, as this would make them slippery on a wet deck and conduct cold in icy conditions. They were never intended to be worn as marching boots.

It does look as if the top of the boots have been cut down - they should have a higher front and lower back. Maybe someone cut them down to make them look more like German marching boots?

          Dear Matthew.

Thanks for the info. They are not cut. The fronts are higher a bit. It just does not show that well on the picture. Only flaw is the missing pull straps.

          Regards
          K.

                Thank you all.
Would fireman's boots have a "broad arrow" stamped in?
