Question about RAF flying goggles

Guys, I'm looking for goggles to put on my C-type flying helmet, and I found this type is sold regularly. Is the adjustment screw on the nose a standard type, or should it be a fixed hinge sort of construction?
I haven't found them with AM markings, so am I right they are a civilian lookalike of MKVIII goggles?

If I recall correctly "Stadium" were manufacturers of motorcyclists gear in Britiain in the post war period? I seem to recall adverts for them in the 1960's and 1970's?

Correct , also these types abound in Aussie too, All WW2 Vintage MkVIIIs have AM Stamp and 22C/930 under Bridge on Nose, and have Glass Laminated Lenses, Post War Types are the same Minus Markings and Have Plastic Laminated Lenses.

Remember these Goggles Where used up until the 70's, and only for about the last 18 months or so of WW2 .

Other options

Depending on the version of your C helmet, ie whether it has an elastic vs. leather chin strap or internally vs. externally wired ear receivers, you have a few options for goggles. MKVIIIs are the most plentiful and probably the least expensive and most appropriate for a later helmet. You also have a choice of MKVII's, which were not as popular due to their stiff frame, but they are not too expensive. I see a lot of MKIIIa's and b's. MKIIIb's, the one with the thick pad, don't seem to be too expensive, especially if they are of RCAF manufacture. They were very comfortable and durable due to their plexi lenses, so you see pictures of pilots wearing them into the later parts of the war. They would also be popular with the early C helmet.

Do you know what oxygen mask , microphone and receiver set up you are going to add to this?

Hi Todd,

I've been told it is a second pattern C-type: elastic chin strap, internal wiring, no hook on the right cheek for the attachment of the oxygen mask.

I ordered recievers and wiring loom before I even knew there were in fact different types, so maybe they are wrong.
Recievers are marked AM 10A/13466, markings on the wring loom I don't know as I don't have them in the mail yet.
The oxygen mask I will try to add later, am I right an E or E*-type is what I need and a G-type is wrong?

Do you know if there is good info online about these helmets and accessories?

It is just my opinion, but I think with the internally wired later C, a really nice G mask would be more appropriate. And it is far less expensive to acquire. The E masks are expensive and strike me as earlier, less modern stlyles that would fit with an early C or even later B helmet. But it was all a muddle. Almost any combination works. I think the wiring loom you have ordered sounds like it will be fine.

So I don't have to worry having 3 press studs on both sides and not the flat hook on the right side? Ok, I will see if I can find a G-type mask then.

Almost all the helmets that I have that are of that period later C's, later D's etc. have the flat hook on the right with one press stud above. I know there was an assembly that had the hook with two female press studs as an integrated unit that could snap over the two studs to facilitate the later oxygen assemblies. So, now knowing that you don't have it built in, you can either go with an earlier mask or find the conversion piece to put on a later helmet.
