Original ww2 denim Battle Dress?

is this an original ww2 Battle dress?
Is this the first pattern?
This B.D. qas used on italian front? In which years?

It does appear to be a fine original first pattern denim.

Date wise the second pattern might be more likely for Italy but I see no problem with a first pattern still in use later than 42.

First pattern but second version of it. The first denims were of the same pattern but brown in color.

I always found it interesting that the denim was changed to green while the woolen British BD remained tan/brown. Equally interesting that the woolen BD produced in Commonwealth countries are a greenish color -- Canada, Australia, New Zealand, S Africa, US War Aid, etc)
