    Tank badge help

    Hello,

I bought this badge as a repro a long time ago but, how can I tell the difference between the repro I have and a good one that will hopefully crop up in a charity shop for 20p one day while I'm passing?

Wow, thanks for that Jack. So I suppose £1.00 was an ok price.

It depends on what you mean by repro. It is an original badge from possibly WWII and beyond, but I do not think it is a WWI badge.

            Hello Marc,

By repro I meant knocked up in a sweat shop and sold as a modern copy.

I didn't know they were worn in WWII, are WWI badges totally different?

              Hi Tony,

I think the WW1 period ones are larger and look cruder - I'll see if I can dig out a pic.

              Thanks, from Jack.

The Tank badge was originally worn in WWI to show that the wearer had qualified as a tank crewman, both Officers and ORs were issued the badge. It is still worn today by all members of the RTR, and there are a variety of variations.
