As for insignia, period or postwar, well im rubbish at telling them apart, so cant help there, the thing i noticed is the nap to the material, its well worn yet the insignia has no corresponding wear To me this would only happen if the BD has been upgraded. Now this could well have happend during the period , if so then jacket wasnt worn a lot after insignia application. Green vegetable buttons on a BD ive not seen but hey why not and that huge nameing to the inside, again ive not seen before.

IMHO a nice walking out or best Battledress made end 1944, beginning 1945 (Z code) Dragnet, I do not see well worn cloth. A well worn BD would look different.

Insignia and BD cloth match. I saw names in BD like this before. A hands on inspection is always prefered on this kind of battledresses.

Thats my point, cloth is not well worn but have a look at the nap to the BD material surrounding the cloth, IMO BD was worn well before insignia applied, but as mentioned the application of cloth might well be period, i tend to belive this might well be a BD used from 45 till early postwar by the veteran, walking out best would be my guess.

I like it, insignia seems settled into the cloth. I note the collar has been lined. I would be happy to see this as his walking out BD.

For me, this item seems ok. However, a hands on inspection would be the best.

Others have pointed out particular concerns - buttons, wear and so on. I will only add that WWII tunics - ordinary in and of themselves - with high interest/high value insignia added seems to be a bit of a cottage industry at the moment. I think I've seen more Airbourne and Glider reg't tunics on this one forum in the last 6 months than in 40 years of browsing militaria shows and dealers. I hasten to add that I am not dissing this example, but statistically we should be seeing fewer and fewer of these good condition desireable examples, not more and more. Or am I missing something?

BTW, I'm not a bitter naysayer but was acquainted for years with several dealer with dodgy morals and saw far too many people spend big bucks on stuff that was at best questionable. Feel free to igenore me. My wife does!
