Opinions wanted on bracelet

My friend has found a bracelet on a shipwreck. The name on the bracelet is Joe M. Marlin Jr. Also the following number: 34710648. The name of the ship is Alan A dale. The ship was probably sunk in the end of 1944 at the Westerschelde river in Holland. Information on this ship and the man from the bracelet will be appreciated.

A quick internet search shows the "Alan a Dale" as a freighter as part of a convoy.
..But a search of the "Lloyds of London" shipwreck list will cost money.

Hi,

Found a little bit of info from the USMM websight. Alan-A-Dale [former Danish Norvest] Freighter (Panama). Date sunk-12/23/44 by Midget submarine. Sunk NEAtlantic. Crew deaths- None. Operator during the war was the Union Steamship Of New Zealand.

So a former Danish ship flying a Pamamanian flag operated by a New Zealand steamship company was sunk in Holland... interesting.

A bit more info I have found on the ship from another forum.
The Panamanian motor merchant ALAN-A-DALE (4702 BRT) was torpedoed and sunk on 23.12.44 by a Biber midget in the Schelde estuary (51°21'N,03°47'E). She was en route from New York to Antwerp with a load of goverment stores. All 42 crewmen and 23 armed guards on board survived.
She was 1938 completed as Danish NORDVEST by Nakskov Skibsværft A/S, Nakskov for D/S Norden A/S (Brown Jun. & Co), Copenhagen.
In July 1942 she was taken over by the US Maritime Commission, put under Panamanian flag and was renamed ALAN-A-DALE.

There is a picture of her as NORDVEST in Jordan's book "The World's merchant fleets 1939" on page 12.

Seems the ship was recovered in 2003 in an effort to improve shipping lanes.

Chris you are truly an amazing guy This is the information I was after. The ship and her cargo was indeed recovered in 2003. At the moment they are sorting out the cargo. It varies from American chewing gum up to 4 inch shells. Also vehicle parts; clothing; fuses for 4 inch shells; 2 cm bofors granates; engines;etc,etc. It is amazing what they all find.
