Opinions/Info Please On WWII British Airborne Patch

British militaria is not my area of expertise, and I was hoping someone could help me with this patch. From some internet research, it appears to be a British Non-Airborne Unit patch. Is that correct? If so, can someone tell me if the patch is original and when it would date from? Is it WWII era? It appears to have been sewn on a uniform at one time. Would this have gone on the lower sleeve of the uniform or somewhere else? Lastly, what was a "Non-Airborne Unit"? Any help is appreciated!

I believe it's a nice original WW2 Parachute Qualification to a soldier who completed the necessary jumps but wasn't assigned to a parachute unit. Worn on the lower right sleeve.

      It is called a Lightbulb!

Here is the AB64 entry for this badge for a parachute qualified soldier assigned to a glider unit.

Thanks for posting the pictures. It's great to see one on an actual uniform. Can you tell me the difference between my patch with the soldier hanging from the shroud as compared to the version that has a rectangle suspended from the shroud? Is my patch an earlier variation?

              Hi Jordan,

Your patch is simply an earlier version of the same badge.
