Military Cross with TWO bars!

I have had the pleasure of handling this outstanding group. RHA, ex Dunkirk, 7th Armoured Div Desert Rat, Wounded at Falaise Gap.

The other medal group belonged to his wife.

At present, I don't have the citations, but the MC is 1942, first bar is 1943 and the second is 1944 (awarded Dec '44)

Very nice Ade, I have a lovely MC and Bar to a local lad who was KIA.
Will check the medal yearbook to see how many WW2 2 bars were awarded.

That's a serious group of medals!!!!

MC and Bar for WW2 are numbered roughly 500 in the MYB, it doesn't give numbers of 2 bars so it cannot be many

According to "British Gallantry Awards", 10,386 Military Crosses were awarded for WWII, but only 24 with two bars. It appears none with three bars were awarded; four were awarded in WWI.

He probably served with 3RHA, anti-tank gunners who still call one of their batteries 'Sidi Regiezh' and who saw action in Italy and from Normandy to Berlin. Anybody taking on German armour in the Falaise Gap with 25 pounder bloody well deserved an MC!
