ww2 British helmet with part yellow camo. Help needed

    It's not South African IMO. Although I 've seen South African made MkIIs with their three holes covered with thick camo or sand paint, it doesn't look like this is the case here. The chinstrap lugs are also wrong for a South African MkII.

    What I find interesting is that such helmets also turn up in Greece. Having been handed over to the newly reinstituted Greek Army by disbanding British units, there are some interesting examples of Desert/Italian Campaign camos, overpainted in green, which have survived the early 1950s repaint.

    Although some of them have the "right" look one would expect to see, some others look too shiny, too bright, too clean and too fresh... Some of them also smell "funny".

    Has anyone else observed something like this? Do you think that there might be some recently faked camos, trying to immitate these patterns or am I oversuspicious?
