    Air Gunner Badge, original?

    Hello,
I don't usually pick up British items but this RAF Air Gunner badge came in a lot of US patches I recently picked up. It looks to be hand stiched. Could anyone tell me if it is original or not? I have heard that WWII RAF wings are highly faked.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vance

Hi Vance, the A/G brevet looks perfectly OK to me too.

        Cheers, Ade.

I think it is a good WW2 wing.

Look at the backing felt. It is usually very thin with "tight" fibers in a WW2 vintage wing. In contrast, the later reproductions used a thicker felt backing and has a "looser" fiber composition.

I also check the threads. If the the thread feels smooth, then it is likely silk--indicative of a vintage wing.
