WWII RCEME officer badge + collar opinions needed

Hi folks,

Just got this one and would like opinions on it. I had never seen such attachement system on a Canadian badge, even officer. Is it a orginal badge with orginal attachement ? Original badge with modify attachement system ? Complete fake ?

Well looks like a well worn Officer (silver) Kings crown. You are right the attachment is odd you would expect the same as on the collar-dogs one can even see where they where clipped off

That being said you would kind of expect RCEMEs could do that sort of work.

Is it WWII or from the 1945-1953 period ? Its in Mazeas book but no mention of the date in use.

The fastener is not original to the badge. It had lugs or perhaps screw posts which were removed and replaced by what is there now.

The badges themselves are post WW2. I believe that pattern of RCEME badge was introduced in 1947.
