    Para BD, need fast opinions!

    Hi guys,
What do you think of this one?
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Junior

    Junior,

I think I saw this somewhere recently? Was it ebay? The Pegasus and Wing look ok but really we need close ups to be sure. Same for the shoulder titles. Is the BD british? Any dates/markings? asking price?

Hi Junior, I have just remembered another forum member asked me about this one last week and I have forgotten to answer him Sorry Gary.

I would like an hands on inspection on this one. The insignia looks original. The big question is, as always; Is it original to the blouse? Canadian made 1945 dated blouses are not too hard to find and are good candidates to "badge up". I would wonder why anyone would remove the Officers pips as stated in the advert but leave the airborne insignia in place?

I would not bid on it, put it that way.

        Cheers, Ade.

P.S. Hi Des, it is on E Bay.

If its Canadian why is it missing the lining around the collar? That would put me off right away. Genuine Para BD`s are ultra rare and you should never rush in to buy one. As Ade says on something like this, you really need to hold it in your hand.

Just looked at the pics again. Look at the top photo. Can you see a mark left by the removal of an "Airborne" tab sized peice of insignia under the Pegasus? But on the other sleeve this might have been there too, BUT the Pegasus seems too almost cover it?

I am not saying this is what was there, but something certainly was.

            Cheers, Ade.

In my opinion, all the insignia looks like nice wartime stuff. But it's more than likely that the whole thing has been badged up. Looks a bit shoddy too. If you don't believe me about the shoulder titles as they do look very modern and repro like, check out this mint set, very similar!

              Thanks, from Jack.

It appears to me that if the jacket were put on and worn, that the pegasus formation sign on the left sleeve would end up on the front of the bicep rather than centered on the sleeve.
I cannot imagine any RSM worth his salt allowing anyone, Officer or OR to wear the sign in that position.
I think the BD has been badged.

                  No problem

                  No problem Ade ...
I'm happy with the wing, but as I said in the PM, my colour-blindness doesn't help when it comes to cloth.

                  Regards

                  Gary J.

                      Hi Jeroen,

Thanks for posting the close-up's, it is up to the experts to decide now!

I think the blouse is fine; my 1944 Canadian BD blouse doesn't have a collar liner either.Badges sure look ok, but indeed hard to tell if they are original to the blouse. What I noticed is quite a bit of moth damage on the badges but the blouse itself appears to be in a better condition. Coincidence? Dunno.

                        Cheers, Luc

                            Hi Des,
I believe it was made that way. The collar is tailored for an officer, but only the lapels have been modified, not the original collar.
I'll send youa pictur e of it.

A strap for 10Euro! That is a great find, congratulations! Hopefully the colour will match.

                            Cheers, Luc

                              Thanks all for your comments,

What should be a fair rice for this one? Original BD, original emblems, mot-damage... etc.?
                              Thanks,
                              Junior
