    Badge/Button help needed

Can anybody ID this Rose positively?
It's about 28mm wide, has a Screwback like the Officers Buttons for Shoulder Knots and a Hook like for a cloaks chain or so.
    Maybe Guards?

I think it is meant to hold the chin chain on a Victorian era Home Service helmet. Can't speak to it's authenticity.

Try this link - you can see the rose on the example in the photo: http://www.militarysunhelmets.com/20...service-helmet

        Thanks for this!
Helmet is an option, but maybe for a Modern Musicians one or so.
The Screw is about a cm long when the Plate is fixed tight.
My ones look very modern, so I don't think it's an old one and by the source it let me think so too.

Could well be a modern repleacement for a helmet or a copy iof a helmet. A number of regiments still use such helmets for theri bands and ceremonial units, I believe and there is a huge range of stuff being reproduced for collectors and re-enactors, so a modern copy would be quite possible.

I got several of them directly from an Army source, so I'm pretty sure they're original. From time to time I get "Surprise Bags" with lots of unsorted Stuff, with these I got many Screw Buttons for Shoulder Knots, for Generals, Royal Regiment of Scotland and others , some Foot Guards Units, Shoulder Knots, Aiguilettes, Collar Dogs and other Stuff. Took me 2 Day's just to sort it, with more time to ID most of the Stuff.

Sounds legit. then. As I said, a number of units still dress bands and other special units in the helmet and presumably somebody out there still makes the helmets and fittings for them. Nice find!

                Thank's.
Yes, I know about these Helmets.
Somewhere I have some stripped ones without anything on, just the blue Body.
A friend of mine has some nice ones he got during his 32 yrs. career as a Painter for the UK Forces in Berlin.
Sometimes a Present from the Bandmaster.
Some weeks ago he gave me a nice Lifeguards Troopers Tunic in trade for some buttons and Badges.

Yes, I understand some wonderful stuff is coming out into the open as British forces in Germany clear out 50 years worth of accumulated QM stores!

Never had the chance to get stuff from German QM Stores, except for some Auctions where I had to go to Elmpt Station, former RAF Bruggen what is the other end of Germany for me.
My stuff comes from the UK directly and the next 40 Kilo-box is allready waiting for shipment. A Yr. ago I bought 15 tons of mixed stuff, mostly RN, RAF, Army, Home Office and PNI.

I understand from a friend on another forum that at least one regiment stationed in germany is moving out after 40+ years and that the QM store is dumping huge amounts of stuff into the local second hand economy: parts of ceremoniasl uniforms such as helmet skulls and so on. being a gent, this fellow is not trying to lift it out the back door but buying it back once it hits the open market, but one can only speculate on wnat might be on the back shelves of a store used by a succession of regiments over that time!
