    Help with boots, please?

    Hi Team,
While rooting about in some stored boxes I came across some ankle boots I've had for a long time. Can anyone help identify them? Are these Allied manufacture, and if so, what period? Both are stamped 'byc' over '42'.
    Thanks in advance,

Wonder why it has a German maker code "byc" if it's not German? But the pattern is not German...

byc: " Brueckenbauanstalt August Klonne AG " or otherwise "Aug. Kloenne, Dortmund"

        Thanks Nick,
Yeah - I wondered if perhaps these had been played with - added stamps to make them supposedly German? But considering where they came from quite a few years back that tactic didn't add any value - if that's the case.

They look like period french private mountain boots ?
Same french square nails system on the heel ? Double row of nails are for mountain troops ...

+1. I would say French too.

Yep - my first thought was also French made. They look well worn so the oval French issue stamps have probably worn away. Definitely not British or Commonwealth.

From the pictures the byc 42 stamp looks a little too clean for the condition of the rest of the boots, so I would also guess it was added at some point. Did the Germans ever stamp reconditioned or re-issued foreign boots?

                  Thanks Guys -
Very much appreciated. So - WWII? The upper leather is in great condition and the stamps are actually not deeply impressed at all, and very small. If they are post-war applied to deceive they are very subtly done - but I would not put it past anyone having done so.
I'll take some internal shots if that helps?
                  Regards,
