The formation sign painted on the helmet is of the British 3rd Infantry Division. If you google the unit you will find out more.

It is hard to tell with only these pictures of the decal. The net does not look original to the helmet - it is too loose, looks too fresh and shows no signs of damage around the edge, even though the paint is chipped and worn around the rim of the helmet. It has been added later. This means you can try removing it for better pictures of the decal.

I have to say that the chinstrap also looks too new for the wear on the rest of the helmet. The buckle looks too black like on unissued chinstraps. The brass loops also show no discolouration or verdigris. I would guess this strap has also been added (just a first opinion).

We really need more pictures of the helmet without the net, any stamp marks and closeups of the liner, decal and paint finish.
