    Hi Akina,

Who says they stopped using that colour in 1940? Have you got a photo of your helmet? If so, send the photo to me at desthomas@belgiansas.com and I will put it up on the forum for you.

Didn't the Irish use grey MKII helmets?

I have a 1943 MKII in grey with NDS applied to the front but no one could tell me anything about it. Not even the IWM.

Here is the helmet. Certainly has a glossy finish. Could it be RN issue?

Akina, Although Militaria magazine is quite good. Alot of bad info and fakes have appeared in the magazine over the years.

Tony, Its possible it was used by the Irish army now that you mention it! I have actually seen this type of finish on Irish helmets before so that could be the case. Hard to tell for sure though?

                        Des,

Have a look at the link, it shows my lid that can't be identified. It has the same colour as your one.

                          Tony,

The helmet is not mine. It belongs to Akina, I just posted the photos for him. I do not think your helmet is Irish. I have never seen that decal before
