    WW1 RAF Insignia Question

I have a group to a KIA RAF pilot. I would like to find an officer collar insights and a issue those WW1 RAF wings to put with this group display. I do not know how to tell WW1 insignia from WW2 insignia.

I would really like to see some examples of the WW1 insignia.

    Thank you,
    Bob Hritz

Also remember they were not called RAF until near wars end (April 1918) and were the RFC for most of the war so depending on the date of his KIA he was more likely to have worn the RFC wings and metal cap badge.

Bob. When I get home from work I will try to post some pics for you of some early RAF stuff..... My PC has been jerking me around lately though so hopefully it will comply for me!

As he was an observer, he would not have had a pilots brevet (as you show in your link) He may not even have had an observers half wing (the flying arsehole) I believe that these were issued after 6 months service as an observer, at the front. However I may be wrong on this.
These may help (among others probably) :-
