    Insignia on a (canadian?) helmet

    Hello

This helmet was found few years ago near Rouen (liberated by 2nd Canadian Division in 1944). I never found any information about this insignia. Can anyone help me to identify ?

    Best regards

    ZEK

Well not a WWII Candian Corps/Divisional flash

2nd Div was a blue rectangle and the was no larger unit with the #42 in the Order of Battle I have handy

12 Field Regiment Canadian Artillery? (3rd Division)

But normally the 42 was in a rectangular flash and not in a diamond

Going on the above info (the flash on the helmet is green and red and not blue and red)

the only RCASC unit I can come up with is

No 42 Canadian General Transport Company

Though I can did nothing up on them online.
Only found it in the back of rather tattered copy of
'Wait for the Wagon' by WARREN, Arnold. Long out of print

            Hello

            Thanks to all for reply

So it's should be No 42 Canadian General Transport Company.

I'll try to find informations about this unit but not seems to be easy...

No idea about the white strip on the flash ?

A little more info on that unit.

No. 42 General Transport Company, Royal Canadian Army Service Corps (formerly No. 2 Troop Carrying Company, Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, later 4th Canadian Armoured Division and Transport Company, Royal Canadian Army Service Corps)

              and their war dairies

So the official patch would of been one of these

              http://www.rcasc.com/world_war_ii_19...oured_division

              in 1944~45 period

So my guess the flash was done well before 44, If it is a Canadian flash at all.

Unfortunately the war dairy will not give us any details on the flash but it may tell us is any of the unit was near the Rouen area in 1944.
