Hi All,
A few years ago our local regimental tailor re-located and, as is always the way, many years of rubish and detrius had to be got rid of. A lot of the local collectors ended up buying this up and after a few months it dissappeared.
I was at a local auction a few weeks ago when what should I spy but some boxes from the tailor in question. When I looked inside one contained hundreds of rank pips buttons etc but the other was the one that excited me. Inside were approximately 10 sets of buttons for South Staffords Service Dresses. I was chuffed to bits well you know what they say, little things please little minds. I attended the auction the next day and was lucky enough to get both boxes. I had to giggle though as the staffs buttons are wartime in their original wartime box. Had the company not ceased trading as a military tailors I estimated it would probably have taken them 60 years to get through the entire box .
Yours, Guy
