What's your opinion on this Commando Beret ?

    Hello to all

What's your opinion on this commando beret ?

The insigna is the pre 1952 model one
Then the shop adress doesn't exist anymore since end of the 60's

(at this moment i only have those pics)

The label is for a theatrical costume suppliers.

The beret looks OK but you need to get better pics of the inside, behind the vent holes and around the inner circumference to date it.

      Hello,

=> We need to see photographs of the beret turned inside out.

=> Wartime commando berets are very desirable items nowadays, needless to say that many fakes are around.

      => Useful link:

      Kind regards,

          Hello

Now in my hands, here we go :

          Diameter 27cm (10.63 inches) for a 56cm ( 6 7/8 or 7) size head

          Leather rim

Short and thin natural fabric lace

Natural wool green, no waving pattern

          Leather hand sewn grommets support

Insigna that is there since decades and "printed" its shape on the beret

Insigna backing is made of a sewn patch covered with a strong dark piece of cloth then an hand sewn part of P40 battle dress pieces of cloth

No printed stamp i can see

          Thanks for your help

Looks to be an original 1945 onward Beret industries example with the diagonal loop stitch.

I don't think they change much until the mid 50's apart from the badge.
