            Wound Stripes

HIYA ,wound stripes came in durring the Great war , not sure of the date with out checking but i think after 1916 , they were authorised again 1n 1944 , i have seen a few copies over the years but they are very crude , with very poor or no manufactures details , the backing plates are crude sheet brass with holes punched in ,these are usually past off as made in Egypt ,India in the ` local bazzars ` no need to panic if you have an original there is no comparison .
The most i have seen worn is 7 but a friend reckons he has seen 11??
            regards ,Michael.
