WWII Dated Service Dress - Real or not?

I got this Service Dress jacket today.

All the details check out, and even the WD stamp and tag dates are consistent (Q on WD stamp above arrow 1940 on tag). The tag is located behind the upper right pocket, on the wool.

However, the tag is made of what appears to be some sort of impregnated cloth. Is this normal? My Pattern 40 Battledress top from 1945 has a cloth tag and so does every other British item I own from after the war.

It looks like a nice, genuine 22 pattern service dress jacket to me.

Fine original WWII period OR's service dress dated and arrow marked for 1940.

There are usually plenty of these for sale on various online dealers, they don't fetch big money but are a nice thing to have.

When and where were these worn?

NICE an honest item, worn from 1922 onwards till the introduction of Battle dress , dont let the word` service` confuse you as in officers service dress , these were popular for use by C.S.M`s and R.S.M`s for day to day use even after battle dress was introduced .
