    Britsh Optics.

Not sure if this is the right section to put these in but here goes.
    Two gunnery optics by Ross.
The smaller of the two, a 3.5 x 24 binocular gunsight (naval) , optics are uncoated , with a wide field of view.
Adjustment for eye width is by means of the handwheel on the top of the binocular, each ocular is adjusted individually.
A graticule / cross hair within a circle is set in the right side ocular , this can be illuminated and comes up as " white on a black background.
Clear optics Porro II ssytem and pleasing to use.
The circular filter housing contains yellow and grey filters which can be rotated into place via the brass slides / knobs .
Finished in green crinkle finished paint, comes in a wooden transit case.

Larger one is a 7x50 Gunnery directory sight (naval) for use in a directory control tower .
Eye scale and graticule ( right side) can be illuminated.
Four coloured filter system adjusted by slides , a polarising filter can be engaged via the knob on the top of th optic.
    Optics are coated.
Several different models exist, this one haas been adapted for mounting on a tripod.

      AA Optic.

      Ade,
I am most interetsed in the 3.5 x 24 sight , what gunnery system was this part of or linked to ?
Also would anyone have any ideas on this small optic by Ross brillant clear wee thing with a cross hair .
Possibly a quick sight for something but what ?

Britsih optics are not always flavour of the month in military collecting circles , not being considered as refined as Germany or American gear.
Having said that good sets of Ross and Barr and Stroud can be had for very reasonable money.

        Another view

Two more views of the Ross 3.5 x 24 AA and the 7 x 50 Gunnery directory sights.
Any info on them , the AA sight in particular would be welcomed.

My thanks to Ade for reducing the "KB" value of the jpegs.

          Barr and Stroud GK7 .

A Barr and Stroud GK7 a director telescope ( double) , 6x42 with coated optics.
As with all Barr and Stroud WW2 navay gear three colour filter sytem is present.
Graticules in right side ocular can be rotated against each other , I am told this allows bearing to be taken on targets being tracked relative to the positiopn of the director.
Inter pupilary distance is adjusted by way of a worm drive , about 750 sets made each set is numbered amtached to a transit case.
Dr. Hans Seeger rates optical preformance as being "good".
A heavy weight , base and objective constructions are of brass , tubes are alluminium.
