    Silk card

    Hello,

I just thought I'd share this silk postcard with you as it was posted by a German to his sister Mina in April 1918. I wonder if he picked it up somewhere during their advance.

He does mention that he his sorry for not writing but he has been very busy and hasn't had time to write.

Some were produced in factories, some were produced as a cottage industry - a reel of lace dropped off housewife or whatever, she embroidered design after design, then athe reel would be collected & taken to somebody else who would cut the designs & mount them in card.
Maybe produced in a village that was captured, maybe given to or bought by a German POW or taken from a Brit?
