Sorry for the double post, but would you please post a photo of those smaller stengunpouches? And do you know a place where I can buy the "real" stengun pouches? (Not the basic pouches)

Hi Jurryt, the use of these pouches might just be possible by a Commando, but not by a member of the Army or Airborne Forces.

These type of colour plate illustrations are ok but many are fantasy creations. I would stick to what is known and documented, ie use by the RN and RAF.

Bear in mind that "1937 pattern basic pouches" came in three versions:

The first two versions were the same size and only differed in postition of the belt fittings and were too small to accept Sten mags. The mark III basic pouch was designed to take Sten mags as they were made an inch longer in length. Some of these, like the one I showed in my photo, were further converted with the addition of three compartments to take the mags

      Hope this helps?

Sorry, I do not know anyone who has any for sale

      Cheers, Ade.

      PS. Welcome to the forum!

                  everyone who are into this.
                  check this out:
                  http://www.b.dk/billedeserier/saadan...en-4.-maj-1945

It is a series of photos taken at the liberation of Denmark on may 5th 1945.
General Dewing has landed in Copenhagen Airport Kastrup with his security element of the british army.
(Someone went in first to check for explosives under the grass before landing, no kidding here)

Go to photo number nine. What pouch is it that soldier is wearing ?

It looks like the german MP40 pouch design, but definitely british.

And if you want a photo of a nasty short barrelled Stengun, check the other photos as well.
