SMLE question

I have this ww1 1916 dated SMLE (desactivated). On the muzzle there was a big head screw, and I changed it to put a 1st type small head screw. BUT... screw is too long as you can see on the picture. My question: is there different modeles of SMLE muzzle (larger than mine) or screw is not the good one? for information muzzle has the same number as the rifle.

Perhaps your screw was for the Indian Ishapore made rifle which had a more squared off version. I am unsure though whether the screws were different length.
