    Ceramic from Gallipoli

Hi guys I was again in Gallipoli last year trekking about and I came across some ceramic bits & pieces and bits of tin, I think 1 piece may have been a bit of a plate or the not sure and the piece I took was a bit of a water jug maybe ?

I was hesitant in taking it but it was half on a dirt track in danger of being destroyed so I thought I would rescue it and clean it up.

Anyway do you think I'm on the right track with it being abit of a water jug it is marked Marquis Belfast Pottery the piece I could not retrieve is marked Caledonian Rutherglen, I cant find any info on these makers.

    Cheers AG.

I will post some of my other pics as well, when I get a minute to condense the sizes

Here's a report from a local newspaper about the history of Caladonian Pottery in Rutherglen. It may be of interest.

Interesting find, my great grandad was injured there as a bomb slinger.
I hope to get over there some day for the battlefield tour
        Cheers - Greg

Looks like the remains if a service rum drum or as it is often called "Seldom Reaches Destination"!
Here are some pictures of mine which was found at Ypres.

          All the best, Gareth

I wish I had spent more time searching for relics while at Gallipoli in 2005. I doubt I'll be back that way again. Nice finds mate.

                Cheers.

It was just by chance that I noticed it, here's a link to what I found on my first visit a few years ago,

Butch beat me to the punch, but I agree - not much ceramic ware used by the BEF, other than the rum jars. Nice piece of memorabilia!
