British packpack

Found this backpack in an antiques shop today for €30,- I have no clue what it is but it looks like some kind of radio pack. It's dated M.E.Co 1940 and is in NOS condition. Who can give me some info on the pack? What about the value? Did I do a nice bargain? Thanks!

Sorry it is in dutch. Is deze niet om van die thermos kannen in te vervoeren? Van die plasma kannen?

It is a Double ration canister carrier.
There should be 2 metal ration canisters in it.
