Helmet identification needed

This helmet was described as British WW2 para,but I doubt it.Any opinions?

It's a ruined dispatch rider helmet. Someone cut down the harness.

Well spotted.I once owned one of these and I still didnt recognise it.It sold in a recent auction for £100.

There is one on ebay.co.uk for sale now.
It is stated as tank crew helmet made out of a despatch rider helmet. Was this done like that?

Anything is possible I guess. Definitely more comfortable to wear than the RAC helmet.

Can't tell if this was period done.
But HSDR's have been used by tank crews.
There are period made photo's that show the use of the HSDR.
