Here's an early War Office Pattern Brodie with early "American cloth" liner and two piece chinstrap that I managed to get recently. The buckle end of the chinstrap has unfortunately separated and is now gone. The original factory applied green paint is visible underneath a later layer of gray and a final coat of thick brown paint. The helmet has a CEF 1st Division HQ patch with what looks like a Staff of Asclepius in the center.
The helmet does attract a magnet, indicating that it's from the early batches made of mild steel.
The liner is unmarked and any maker/heat stamps in the shell are obscured by the thick paint.
Thanks for looking.
Regards,
Hans
