    Simple question??

    Hello,

If a Pte. in the Lancashire Regt. has "elecrtical engineer, journeyman" in brackets after his regiment, would this be his civilian job or his army job?

    What is a journeyman?

    Thanks

    Tony,

I can't say with certainty that this is his civilian trade but it certainly sounds like it. A journeyman would be someone trained in a specific trade having attended a technical school or something similar. Generally speaking one starts off as an Apprentice, then graduates to Journeyman once the training period is completed. After experience and in some cases exams, etc the person would be a Master Craftsman or similarly titled.

    Hope that's somewhat helpful.

    Cheers,

    Adam
