    help with medals

Hi A friend of mine has been sorting through his loft.He thinks the medals were his grand fathers,he dosen't thik there connected with his father as he had a clerical job during ww2.He has no other family members to ask for info.
The two medals on the left are named he didn't know his gradfathers name but it apears his dad was named after him.
    Here are the inscriptions
    T4-198513 pte Roberts A.S.C
    T4-198513 pte Roberts A.S.C

I was wandering what does A.S.C stand for. There is also a badge.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Dave.

      Medals

      Hello,

      ASC is Army Service Corps.

The badge is a silver wound badge, SWB to collectors. It is worn on civilian clothes by the soldier to signify he was discharged due to injury, wounds etc.

More information is available from the National Archives in Kew, London. They are on-line and it is possible to access information from the medal index cards of the soldier, also from the number on the SWB.

You should be able to find out quite a lot of information. If I can assist further please Send a PM.

      Good luck, Keith

The medals are Left to Right:

        WW1: War Medal, Victory Medal
WW2: Defence Medal, War Medal 1939-45, Italy Star and 139-45 Star

The middle two were not named as a rule.

Thanks Keith John and Paddywhack You have all been a great help.
Thanks Paddywhack for posting the documents.I have just been talking with him on the phone and relayed all the info you have kindly given.
I won't go into details but for personal reasons he is selling lots of family items.
I'm not sure what he intends to do with these, but thanks again to you all for your kind help.
                Cheers
                Dave.
