Canadian 72 Infantry Battalion Cap Badge.

This is the other cap badge I picked up in the grouping. Excellent condition and the use of the metal backing for the wound stripe is interesting...

Very nice indeed. Pity someone has messed up the C72 collar dog! The 72nd saw service in France and Flanders 1916-18 as part of the 4th Canadian Div., so this badeg may have been in the trecnhes. The regiment was disbanded in 1920 but is perpetuated by the Seaforth Highlasnders of Canada, a reserve regiment of the Canadian Army.

I've debated restoring it to its proper shape but I think I'll leave it. It's been this way for a very long time.

As mentioned the 72 has had a long service history and is still an active Reserve Regiment in Vancouver BC Canada as a lad I was a member of the 72 Seaforth Highlanders cadet corps which feels like eons ago now.
Thought you gents might find this collar dog to the 72 Overseas Battalion of interest it is the only one I have ever come across it came out of a flea market a number of years ago .

            Regards Mark
