RAF Dutch volunteer lot

Just added another Dutch exile group to my collection:
Straight from the family (for free) : RAF greatcoat with Dutch insignia/buttons
and his 2 visor caps.

Details: "Gaunt London" marked Dutch Lion buttons

The RAF officer pattern greatcoat is in excellent condition but unfortunately his visor caps were not stored properly and have moth damage....
(this stuff was almost thrown out!)

One cap is a war time standard RAF pattern and the other is a Dutch Airforce badged visor (with lion buttons)

The son said that his father (who joined the RAF in 1945) was color blind which allowed him to detect camouflaged positions better...Not sure what airplane type but he was not pilot rated... so I assume a navigator. (perhaps B25 Mitchells?)
He later transferred to the Dutch AF (early post war years) but did not stay in the military, pursuing a civilian medical career...

Last set...too bad the moths got to it (was stored in the attic ....
but I got it all for free...so I am not complaining! Still worth preserving!

First one Dutch pattern, last image standard RAF pattern, all named to the same officer.
Still happy with the group !

That's a great grouping despite the mothing. I particularly like the insignia on the Dutch cap.

Thanks Mike. The caps actually almost ended up in the trash because of the damage...and I initially only got the coat...which is in excellent condition.
The 2 caps were rescued later (and cleaned up/fixed up by me...) and reunited with the coat as a group which I will never separate as its all named to the same (Dutch) RAF officer.

This is a wonderful set, who cares about the damage? These things just don't come out of the woodwork very often. The whole set has character and I know you're proud of it, I would be too! A good score!
