A friend of mine found this one in the grouping of his passed away grandfather. He served the Belgian forces but somehow this medal ended up with him.

Unfortunately it's not.

The only thing known was that the medal was taken from a German in WW2!!

Just a thought, but if this MM is unnamed then it may well have been issued to a Belgian or French recipient -foreign nationals awarded the DCM or MM in WWI were given unnamed examples (these are now sought after by collectors who want to complete an MM group but obviously don't want an example with someone else's name, number and regiment impressed around the rim)

It might be an alternative explanation as to how this medal turned up in Belgium rather than it being taken in WWII from a German.
