Help with rank slides in a fleet air arm battledress

    Hi,

Any know if the fleet air arm used removable rank slide in their battledress in ww2? I see an original officer battledress with wings and ribbons, but the epaulettes has a removable ranks in bevo cloth or something similar with a letter A inside, thank's.

I agree, there would be more to evaluate than just rank slides, a photo of the jacket in question would go a long way. Primarily because the RNFAA had the Battledress and the Working Dress, both were similar in cut and design.

Rank slides for a RNR ( Royal Navy Reserve) lieutenant, in the aviation branch.
Pilot wings appear to be RAF on the less than clear photo. On full dress, at least, RN officers wore their wings on the sleeve; not sure regarding battledress.

To me the BD is a wartime pattern, but the ribbons are for full second war entitlement which couldnt be obtained until well after the war was over. Also, the rank slides dont look like wartime gold tresse to me. It could simply be the wearer had it upgraded when he continued in the service after the war, with these poor photos I couldnt make a definite ruling on it, nor would I be comfortable buying it
