Hi Guys,
I am hoping to get some thoughts on this slouch hat.
No Date , Sweat band markings "The Rancher" inside ink number 024 7485 and what appears to be a number 7, Sweatband brittle and coming apart. It has a perforated star on each side of top section and trace of some sort of band that once went around the body on the outside. Inside tucked between the sweat band and felt body is two old news paper pieces folded for padding. The paper is the " Truth " dated September 1947.
The body of the cap is extremely flimsy and flexible in folding , light weight ,unlike WW2 slouch hats and is a light olive brown color soft in texture.
Hope the photos shed some light on what period and if it belonged to a military army of some description.
Many thanks in advance to all.
Cheers
