What Pattern is this?

Hi! What pattern is this gaiter? I have heard everything from airborne, RAF, to Royal Marine. It's quite a bit taller than the standard P-37. Thanks[IMG][/IMG]

I'm pretty sure that you'll find that these are Royal Navy gaiters. The Army and RAF wore the much shorter two buckle anklets.

That is not entiteit true. The RAF used large gaiters. P24 if I am correct. Only those have four leather straps instead of the usual two.

I think the top tie may be missing. Each lower lace went through an eyelet, then the one above went through the loop in a kind of 'daisy chain' until the top loop went over a button or buckle or was tied with a final lace. I think.

I don't think that the RM would have worn these with battle dress. They wore the normal two buckle anklets, as far as I know.
As an aside, I believe that the RN still wear these gaiters, but blancoed white, for ceremonial occasions.
