    Ww1 canadian service dress cap

    Hi,

Enclosed, you will find some picture of a Canadian Service Dress Cap.

I would like to know what you think about this cap. Is it an original WW1 SD Cap? Is it an officer item? What is the model corresponding to this cap?

    Thank you,

    Richard

    Hi Richard,
The shape of this cap, as well as the chinstrap, appear to be WWI vintage.
Would you please post a photo of the interior?

              Hi Roy,

Can we say that this item is a SD Cap worn at the beginning of the War; in 1914-15? If so, is it a Model 1902 Officer's SD Cap or a Model 1905 Other Ranks SD Cap?

Other ranks cap from the metal buckles. Chinstrap looks quite wide for WWI so it might be early interwars, though the shape and form of the peak looks to be an earlier type, so hard to say for certain. Some close ups of the logo in the dome and on the inside might help.

                  Bond,

Thanks for your comment. What you say has a lot of sense.

I'm not 100% sure that this SD Cap is an officer one. The chinstrap with metal parts were usually worn by NCO's and those with leather sliders usually worn by officers. I'm not sure either that this cap is a WW1 period item. They continued to wear and make this hat into 1930's militia period; and "Muir Cap CO. Limited" is still located in Toronto since before W.W1.

Their logo changed over the years..I could be mistaken, but it does seem to ring a bell re: interwar years..
