Opinions on British 1st pattern 1942 para Denison smock

    Hello guys,

What do you think of this airborne Denison smock?
It is a first pattern 1942 dated smock manufactured by The Rego clothiers Ltd.

    Thanks

                    A nice original smock

Don't worry about one of the neweys being in nickel as this was quite common in 1st pat smocks ,

                      Whaaa?

There should not be any nickel snaps in any wartime dated smock. Those are postwar replacement snaps. Still, better replacements than having them missing altogether.

They did turn up on first patterns early on but not actually that commonly, they were left over from the step In contracts.

However, I think you'll find Ken Is spot on In this case and the snaps have been taken from a later smock. They have been very badly chewed up during removal and re application and I would theorise this was done by a collector quite some time ago.

Other than that It's a very nice smock, just a shame about the tail.

                          Yours, Guy.

                            Thank for your opinions.

It is too bad that het tail is missing, but most were removed on first pattern due to lack of snaps in the back.

The missing tail likely means it was used in service. It is a good sign.
