                  Helmet

                  Hi Kruger

This is a standard Mark 6 combat helmet worn by pretty much all arms of the British Army (AFV crews had their own models for wear in the vehicles) up until fairly recently.

It isn't a paratrooper's helmet -the Airborne Forces version is very similar but has a smooth exterior (without the stepped area around the ears), weighs slightly less, has a slightly different lining system and -the big give away-has a chinstrap very similar to the late WWII para helmets in terms of it's design in that it doesn't have the adjustment press-stud device that yours has. The link below shows better than I can explain what the Airborne Forces helmet looks like in comparison to the one you have:

                  http://www.regimentals.co.uk/viewphoto.php?x=-1

The cover is the temperate DPM version, there was also a version produced in desert colours which was worn during Operation Granby in 1990-91.

It's a nice helmet, and collectible in it's own right.

                  All the best

                  Paul.
