British Pocket Knife 1956 dated

Picked this pocket knife up last week, never seen one before. Is this a general issue knife or issued to specific unit/individuals? Thanks

I think this type were originally for issue in jungle/tropical areas.

By 1956 all of the knives were the all metal type, this style of 2pc knife started being made about 1952 (it's different to the earlier war time 'Burma' knives). There were the two styles still, the one with and the one without the Marlin Spike.

The first all steel knives like this were made in 1945.

The first ones were 1939/40, made by G Ibberson & Co. then for whatever reason were abandoned until 1944/45 when the 'Burma' knife came out and then in about 1952 the style in the opening post was introduced.
