    Help with patches.

    Hi
Could anyone help with these ?

The KSLI came off a 1940 pattern BD. I bought a group from the same man in auction, they were off already but the remaining sewing threads match thise left on the bd. I cant seem to find any reference to the colour combination, everything KSLI I have found is standard white lettering in red background.

Nor can I find much reference to value of the 212 independent infantry brigade patches. They dont seem to come up for sale on ebay very often, are they rare ?

Cant find any reference anywhere for the DEVON patches ?

I also had with it this envelope with contents. The red and green strips are sewn together. Do you think this is arm of service stripe before sewing onto the arm ? If so, what would the red/green represent ? Same colours as the shoulder flash ? (Light infantry?)

    Thanks
    Richard

This colour was worn by members of the 6th Battalion, The King’s Shropshire Light Infantry, which converted to Royal Artillery in 1942, as 181st Field Regt RA. The title was shortened to SHROPSHIRE later in 1942 and replaced by ROYAL ARTILLERY in 1943.

The DEVON titles are for a Civilian organisation.

The cloth strips are Arm of Service Strips, Red and Green for the Pioneer Corps and Red for Infantry, check that they are Red and Green as Red and Blue would be for the Royal Artillery.

If you want to part with one of the titles please keep me in mind.

Looking at the letter. Pte. Jones was with X Coy, 12 Platoon.
Seeing as a light infantry unit was smaller than a regular unit, could it be that X Coy (10th) was the support company and 12 platoon being the pioneer element of the support company (possibly more than 1 platoon allocated)??
