        Another SOE item:

The uniform of the Belgian secret agent Jean Cornez. He was a radio operator for the the resistance group Luc-Marc, the biggest intelligence service in Belgium, one of the best in Europe covering also parts of France and Holland.

Jean went to the UK with his friend Edouard Cleeren. It took them 6 months, including a stay in the Spanish prison camp Miranda de Ebro. They were bouth recruted by the Belgian State Security and became SOE agents 12 oktober 1941. On 24 octobre 1941 his service dress was made by Tetley and Butler in London.

On the third of march 1942 they were parachuted at the border of France and went to Brussels.
Jean was captured by the funkabwehr 15 april 1942 while transmitting. After torture he was shot 3 octobre 1942.

His last writing: I will be shot dead soon. Can someone imagine a more honourable end of a Belgian officer?

His uniform stayed in the UK and was discovered last year in a house clearance. The insignia are of his former unit in the Belgian Army in may 1940, this was common by the Belgian agents and officers. The man who found the uniform sold it as 'a Belgian uniform'.
