    RAF flight suit

    Hello

What is this model ? From WWII ?

    Thanks

Hi Battler, the suit is WW2 and was introduced in 1942. It is the "Suit, Flying, Buoyant" or the "Taylor Suit". It was wired for use with the "D Type" electrically heated inner gloves and socks. The two pockets were for torch on the right, and on the left for the Fluorescine pack. They came in three sizes, Small, Medium and Large.

    Cheers, Ade.

Here is a useful website which gives a list of RAF stock numbers used on flying clothing. These were known as "22C" numbers. You can see the number of the suit on the label.

I noticed the "large" was for those who were between 5'11" and 6'2". So at 6'3" I guess I was out of luck with RAF... ...fine...you can keep your stupid airplanes...who needs you!
