Info Please On WWI British War Medal Recipient

I collect US military medals, so maybe someone can help me with this one. I forgot to photograph the rest of the engraving on the medal, but it says: "North N.R.". I'm not sure how you research the recipient's of these medals, but maybe someone can answer the following questions:

    1) Was this man killed in action?
    2) Is this medal made out of sterling silver?
    3) What kind of value do these medals have?
    4) How do you research recipient's of these medals?

    Thanks!

      1. No (search on the CWGC website did not find him)
      2. Yes
      3. For standard medals to recipients that didn't fight in any "famous" action or earn higher end medals ... pretty cheap $30-40.
      4. There are several online sites where his service records "might" be found. If you are willing to hire a researcher (if option 3 comes up blank) you coiuld get details at the Kew in London.
