Hello, this might be along shot, but I have a Lee Enfield Rifle witch was used in one battle between British/Norwegian Troops on may 10 1940 they were trying to stop General Eduard Dietels rescue troops :-) this was near Mosjøen were I live.
The Rifle was found leaning against a three in 1972, so been sitting there for 32 years undisturbed. this is a great story, but would have been even greater if I could track down the owner.
so my question is : Did the british troops keep records of who recived witch weapon with serial numbers , like we do today in the army :-)
The british soldier was a part of the 4th and 5th independent company of british Sickle and Scissors forces,
Comander was Collonel Collins MC.V. Gubbins
Anny info or link would have been great help in this search :-)
Thanks
